Selection

Value & Acceptance

Late night spontaneous pod without notes. :) What I covered:

  • Sharing the realizations I had this past weekend

  • The idea of value being based on selection

    • Being selected translates perceived worth aka desirability

    • Recognizing that I can intellectualize this concept very well, but I’m still susceptible to experiencing it emotionally

  • Knowing the origin of things can soothe you mentally

    • Being weary this process doesn’t become dwelling

  • Acceptance

    • Brene Brown: “Assume people are doing their best, change the person or change the task” (expanded upon more in this episode)

    • Denial is in opposition to acceptance and can become dangerous territory for moving forward

      • Emotions communicating my level of acceptance (more in this episode )

      • It’s easy to find yourself on the slippery slope of denial when you like or even love someone

    • Compassion is absolutely required in allowing emotions to move out of you for acceptance to take place

    • My mentor’s mind bomb, acceptance of each other is the true basis of security in partnership

  • Discover to Uncover

    • The brave pursuit of discovering what your true preferences are, instead of adopting what’s been told or surrounds you

  • Long-term partnership is a continuous selection process, not a singular moment
