We made it! We are at the end of the Masculine Journey.
Eight weeks. From conventional to unconventional masculine archetypes.
Who better to close the show than the Rockstar?
He doesn’t require much interpretation. He’s freedom seeking, bold in style and always looking for a good time.
The Rockstar is inclusive. He tends to welcome diverse groups to gather and have fun. In his highest expression he wants people to enjoy themselves. A creative man, and even genius at times…. He can be deeply spiritual, connecting to esoteric ideas and principals. Plus he knows how to throw a good party.
The Rockstar works hard and plays harder. In his unskill application there’s addiction, over-indulgence and manic behaviors. I know the mind automatically thinks guitars and concerts, but cult leaders are actually an expression of this energetic blueprint.
I’ve noticed there’s an overlooked quality of leadership, which I think gets him in trouble. He’s magnanimous. It doesn’t matter what he looks like. I find others are attracted to him for what he represents. Unbridled freedom.
It’s intoxicating to be around someone both uninhibited and inviting. His sense of liberation is appealing and exactly what could lead to someone’s demise.
It’s one thing to be in a spiral by yourself, but another to influence a group to the same outcome.
Reflecting on his animation, what does the Rockstar have to teach us?
Hedonism.
What makes us seek pleasure and avoid pain? Why does risk become enlivening for some? A downfall for another? How does a little pain make something more delectable?
The Rockstar prompts an interesting dialogue.
I think he evokes two camps (with some variation in between).
1. Self indulgence is worth it; whether for a moment, a chapter or a periodic outlet.
2. Self indulgence is dangerous; flirts with oblivion and works best in mini doses.
As I studied the men of this archetype I wondered… can the Rockstar be seen in moderation? Or is the crux of his blueprint the extremes?
I’d like to say you can evoke this energy without being a groupie, risking the house or raving at night.
He represents liberation, letting loose and living outside the box.
All themes worth exploring and I’d say vital for growth and evolution.
You don’t have to jump ship to harness any of his motifs. And that’s a good thing.
I think the Rockstar acts as an example; what it look likes to jump head first into the counterculture.
We don’t have to match his intensity or operate to the same degree.
But we need to ask ourselves is the current system working right now? And is the opposing movement even where we want to be?
He’s not here to be liked.
And he’s not here to please.
But he’s here to ask a question.
If there were no rules to follow, who would you be?

Here we all friends! The closing act. I had some unusual circumstances delay this. But hopefully it’s what you need when you find it.
I loved this so much. Thanks for being here and making it happen with me.
