The King Archetype is exactly as you’d assume.
He can range from corporate CEO, to the self-made man, a political or religious leader and even a dictator. This archetype finds himself taking charge and is a natural born leader.
His impact will be a direct reflection of this question.
What is your purpose with power?
An inquiry were all tasked with. But for the King a question that is based more on reputation than spiritual pursuit. He thinks long term. His quest for power is measured by decades. His decisions will likely effect more than his immediate circle and he is well aware of those implications.
If power for the sake of power is his goal, it’s likely he’ll become a tyrant. This man confuses fear for respect.
If his rise to power uplifts those around him, he will be a man many admire. This King understands the value of cooperation.
The King archetype is associated with many women. Whether it be political leaders dancing in temptation, athletes addressing instagram thirst traps, ancient rulers with many concubines or local leaders local women admire.
Regardless of circumstance, I believe the presence of women in this archetypal storyline is another reflection of the power he seeks (and women too).
There’s two interpretations the King can have regarding women. One fuels their inflated ego by viewing them as sexual conquests. It’s likely women are a status symbol and affirm his position of power through subtle or not so subtle objectification.
The other recognizes women as a missing link that strengthens his golden chain. She is his compliment. Her presence allows him to rise higher through the art of collaboration.
The decision to partner will be one of his greatest strategies. This doesn’t mean he’s callous. There’s wisdom in who he selects to have as his closest companion. His choice could include love and devotion or not, depending on his goals and virtues.
What’s most striking about the King is his relationship to power. He gives us a peak into the illusion of control.
The King man who believes controlling the external is what sources his power, will receive a reality check. Whether it be from the law, his health or even his own men. In each instance a perception of betrayal.
The King man who believes controlling his reactions is what sources his power, will realize how quickly he ascends even if his physical circumstances doesn’t reflect it just yet.
When it comes to control and power this archetype gives us another perspective on our development….
The inner child.
Yes. A hallmark of this blueprint.
Think about a little boy not getting what he wants and throwing a tantrum. Impulsively moving his body. Having choice words. Looking to claim his sense of control somewhere on his own.
Men who haven’t evolved will often do the same as an adult.
His compatibility with the mother archetype is unique for this reason. Lebron James & Steph Curry are both King men who partnered with Mother women, Savannah James & Ayesha Curry.
In the skillful application, his inner child is used to balance to the weight of responsibility, accountability & expectations.
I have a provocative thought that, how you do one thing is not how you do everything.
The dual nature in us is often channeled in different arenas of our lives. Understanding the King psyche is seeing the child & father in one embodiment.
Women who speak to both will be a reprieve you can’t put into words.
Most of the content you see online debating what men & women “bring to the table” is a conversation around this archetypal theme. (But you’ll notice it’s not cultivated nor animated in all men speaking on it).
That’s why it’s important to become familiar with the archetypes. The king has a footprint in the social narrative, and it’s important to discuss why we lack balance in the male psyche and social forums.
