It’s time. Now we journey into the masculine archetypes.
This series has been a great challenge for me.
I was unable to lean as heavily on Ayesha K Faines' work since she didn’t publish most of the material before her passing.
As a result, I’ve been able to use it as a foundation and present my own understanding of the men we live next to, befriend and fall in love with.
My hope is to bring more clarity around these characters.
In order to solidify stronger unions we need to understand how we uniquely connect and harmonize with one another.
What’s entailed in this series? And where does it reside?

Thank you for joining the conversation! Let’s begin.
The warrior is the first of 8 Masculine Archetypes we’ll cover. I begin our series with male expressions you’ll recognize immediately. I’ve noticed the outward expression of masculinity is recognized and cultivated more often. Similar to the feminine archetypes, the warm signatures have more social emphasis than the cooler archetypes. We’ll start with the signatures society emphasizes and close with the less applauded expressions.
Here’s the line up:
Warrior
Messenger
Business man
King
Recluse
Creative Genius
Artist
Rock Star
I begin with the warrior because he represents what we’d think of as “traditional masculinity”. We conceptualize him as a man’s man. If he is anything, it’s instinctual. He may find himself in sophisticated roles, but there’s something primal underneath his essence.
The warrior like any soldier or fighter is a man of honor. Even if he’s erratic in life or love there’s is a natural code of conduct he follows (even if he hasn’t figured out how to regulate his emotions). His code is likely related to his character and performance. If you think of any group or nation in history going into battle, the warrior psyche has these themes interlaced in his everyday life.
He has A LOT of energy. Warrior men who are further along in their evolution have consciously decided how to allocate their energy. Mature warriors begin to understand the balance of expending and recharging their energetic resources. This will be critical to his performance. I find with age there’s more wisdom around this management because his levels differ from his youth. He is also going to recognize which situations he allows to be fueled his emotions and not let that others manipulate his reactivity.
Passion is usually the motivating force behind his actions, it’s an innate drive. Emotional reactions prompt movement but aren’t always the most beneficial. This is a challenge the warrior is tasked with mastering.
The warrior is known to have a high sex drive. He is energized by feminine women, they act as a second cylinder for his revving engine.
Yes, women do have an energizing effect on all men, but there’s a distinguished difference with the warrior. Some men consume or drain the passion or life force circulating within women. The warrior’s electric presence grows and is returned back to her. Hopefully in favor of his masculine essence by being of service, but for those less evolved it might manifest as volatile outbursts.
In his unskillful applications he can be easily controlled by inciting anger, typically through disrespect.
The warrior stands for something. It could be a message, value system, family, team, social advocacy etc. He strongly identifies with his role and has an exuberant amount of pride around it (think soldier principals). If his character or performance as a man is questioned, he will likely put it all on the line whether it be financial, professional, relational or even his life.
The key trait to remember is he is a man of great passion. This will show up in his pursuit of conquest and victory as well as a lover.
As women, I think we underestimate the Warrior’s sensitivity. There’s such a machismo to his presentation we assume the strength cancels any “softness”.
But if you pay closer attention to him, you’ll see every move and decision is based on his desire for connection.
He’s motivated by:
Connecting to a greater purpose
Connecting with the principals of respect
Connecting intimately with beautiful women
The warrior’s default setting is to be connected to life. The lover archetype displays this through beauty, connection and expression. The masculine embodiment inhabits his body and lives life flirting with the edge.
I don’t think he realizes it. But it’s like the danger of battle (literally, mentally and figuratively) reminds him of the preciousness of life. And if he looses that connection, he’s lost, life has no meaning, and loosing the thrill of being a man is worse than death itself.
