Maiden Archetype

Our third feminine archetype is the maiden. She represents the archetypal daughter whose directly related to the mother archetype. She has the magnetism and sexual appeal like the lover, but one that is unawaken.

What’s unique about the maiden is she represents transition. I recognize three faces of the maiden (compliant, rebel and mature). To understand this archetype is to become familiar with each phase of her transformation.

She is the most prominent feminine expression in the media, but I find over emphasis on her “Kor” or “nameless” phase and not enough attention on her ascension.

Here is a review of the themes discussed in the video below:

• The maiden is another warm archetype, she feels receptive due to her intuitive and empathic nature. She quite literally receives your presence, emotions and energy

• Skillful application includes remaining light hearted and effervescent

• Unskillful application ranges from dependency, unawaken sexuality and attraction to the shadow without integration

• Media cultivates the compliant & rebel maiden without the full transformation of her power into the queen phase (individuation)

• Persephone’s myth and the analysis of America’s society mirroring Greek mythology
