Continuing our conversation on masculine containers, I’m discussing a man who’s been pivotal, Joey - My videographer.
A huge growth edge for me has been getting in front of the camera. Even with several projects behind me and comfort zones expanded I am facing some of my biggest fears around visibility right now. (But still showing up with all of you :))
I've always known there's a power in being witnessed. A deep healing in being seen as you are. It was Madelyn Moon who described the energy of the feminine as expression. The masculine is the container and holds the space as a witness. It's his anchored presence that feels so safe for women to express whatever is coming through her.
Joey has always supported my vision of the feminine range and has been the best creative collaborator I could ask for. He helps my vision come to life and my analysis transform into art.
I don't think people realize what I teach, I am actually addressing in myself. Animating the feminine range has been HARD. I've had to look at:
My own biases and judgements
Acknowledge my own fears
Uncover the animations I've repressed to avoid rejection
AND let you all watch me be her while I do it…
The ones I'm most afraid of, Joey is most excited for. Whenever I hold back, he says more. Whenever I'm unsure, he says again. Whenever I have an idea, he says let's do it.
Every fear of being too much, too wild, too gnarly, too chaotic, too sexy, too much of whatever is inside of me; he holds the space. He gives me permission to be even more. He hypes me. He creates with me. And I don't think he realizes it, but he's expanded my range more rapidly than anyone else around me.
I think social media is undervalued in the sense that we all have access to this initiation process. You don't have to create your own production company but in the smallest of ways all you need to do is share. Sharing is the expression that the world is waiting for, desiring in you. Not promoting, proving a point, perfecting angles. Simply sharing.
This is a raw moment of authenticity. And maybe that looks like reposting a funny meme, wrinkled smiles with long time friends, commenting crying eyes on a reel that had you bent over with laughter or posting a timeline hop of a loss you once had.
There's so much to witness. So don't underestimate the power of that position. And certainly don't take for granted the gift of your expression. Children are our best teachers in this. It's simply sharing.
