We’ve crossed the bridge and officially entered the cooler archetypes.
I love this part.
As I mentioned last week, the cooler expressions are women who identify one within themselves. The basis of their behavioral, psychological and energetic blueprint is intrinsic motivation, independent of external influences.
For the mystic, her pursuit is inner peace. This is non-negotiable.
It’s not to say she is a permanent recluse (which is possible in her unskillful application) but this is a woman of balance. She is a mother, friend and lover in addition to her solitude. Her relationships do not waiver the value she has placed within herself.
Another key component of the mystic is focus. This is something I feel our modern day spiritual teachings don’t emphasize enough. For whatever reason discipline is seen as a skillset for life within the matrix and a requirement for modern institutions.
The mystic embodies meditative spaces not to escape, but to value and sanctify everyday life. She is emotionally contained and knows how to channel motherhood, business, beauty and life lessons in their own container. It’s an incredible practice to harness.
Here is a review of the themes discussed in the video below:
Characteristics: Serene, emotionally detached, a home maker, feels like home, quiet dignity
Skillful Applications: Un-phased by peer pressure, presence in every moment, highly organized, home is a sanctuary, comfortable in solitude, takes the high road in confrontation
Unskillful Applications: Lacks assertion, won’t speak up, swallows emotions, doesn’t initiate intimacy, comes off cold or reclusive, walls up emotionally, lets others take advantage of her solitude
Myth: Hestia is the Greek goddess of home and hearth. She is the warm flame that is centered in every home and the warm auric zen mystic women embody. The only goddess who chose not to live on Mount Olympus, also displaying her solitude and maturity for not participating in the drama of the other deities
Case Studies: Lauren London & Frida Khalo
