I'd like to share a milestone with all of you. This past week I was approved to monetize my youtube channel and received emails on how to set up my account as a paid partner. I remember researching it when I had 100 videos and 25 subscribers. It was a pleasant surprise to receive the notification! I have enough subscribers and watch time to qualify and that felt amazing.
Know what else....? With this accomplishment a challenge accompanied. With more visibility, comes more people, opinions and voices. :) The past few weeks I've really evaluated a mixed bag of people in my comments (and I'm finding archetypal patterns with the trolls 😉).
What's not emphasized enough is every success is in tandem with a reciprocal challenge. And this dance is rarely discussed, but I know it's an initiation no one escapes. I did a youtube video thinking out loud on it and more comments of misunderstanding commenced 😂 But I had this lovely comment in the midst of them all I'd like to share (one of my subscribers here, thank you!):
Two Buddhist Monks were walking on a secret journey. One was old and wise and the other was a young apprentice. They were walking for several miles when they came across a riverbank. They noticed an old woman sitting at the edge of the river. The young monk asked if she needed help crossing. She said, “Yes, I am old and feeble and can’t do it alone.” So the young monk carried her on his back through the rough current. While crossing, the old woman complained and jostled on his back. When they got to the other side, the woman walked off indignant with no gratitude. After walking several miles more, the old monk sensed something was bothering the young monk. The old monk asked, “What is wrong? The young monk said , “She was ungrateful and indignant that I helped her across.” The old monk replied, “Why are you still carrying her?”
Today's mood is a mixture of resilience and vulnerability.
